HUGHESVILLE, Md. - The Penn St. Berks Men's & Women's Cross Country Teams had an outstanding showing at the United East Championship Meet on Saturday, Nov. 2. Standing out among the highlights was
Trent Jordan who finished fourth in the meet, earning United East Rookie of the Year honors.
The meet was kicked off by the women's race and Penn St. Berks was led by
Naomi Fay who ran toward the front of the pack throughout the race. She crossed the finish line in 15
th place with a time of 27:06.6 earning Second Team All-Conference honors for her efforts.
Heather Hoffman had strong performance, finishing just outside the top 33 with a time of 31:33.2. As a team, the women's team finished with a score of 249, taking 10
th of 13 teams.
St. Mary's College (Md.) captured the women's cross country team championship, finishing with a team score of 30. Cairn University's Clarisse Hayden won the individual championship, posting a time of 24:04.5.
The men's race then took center stage, and Berks' Jordan was at the front of the pack from the start. He finished fourth overall in the meet with a time of 27:58.0, earning First Team All-Conference Honors. Also, Jordan was the top first-year finisher in the meet, securing him Rookie of the Year honors.
Nathaniel Leano had a great performance, finishing 13
th overall in a time of 29:31.1 earning Second Team All-Conference honors. Joining him on the Second Team was
Ben Carman, who finished 19
th overall with a time of 30:11.9.
Simon Rickert earned Third Team All-Conference honors, placing 24
th overall with a time of 30:52.3. As a team, Berks finished 3
rd of 11 teams, the highest team finish in school history.
Penn College won the men's cross country team championship with a score of 49. Lancaster Bible College's Mitchell Gray earned the individual championship, posting a time of 26:04.1.
