Media, PA- Penn State Berks Men's Cross Country made history, winning their first-ever United East Conference Championship on Saturday, November 1. The Nittany Lions had four runners finish in the top nine, helping the team reach the historic milestone.
The Nittany Lions were led in the championship by
Trent Jordan as the sophomore took third overall in the championship, recording a time of 27:51.1. Jordan was named to the United East All Conference First Team for his efforts.
Nathaniel Leano placed sixth overall in the event, crossing the finish line in a time of 30:03.9. Leano also earned All-Conference First team honors for his efforts.
Cristian Corona-Olivais battled all the way through the finish line, just edging out a runner for St. Mary's College of Maryland to secure a seventh-place finish and a valuable team point. Corona-Olivais posted a time of 30:06.4 earning his spot on the All-Conference First Team.
Samuel Branford was the final Nittany Lion to earn All-Conference First Team honors, finishing ninth overall with a time of 30:12.3. Four All-Conference First Team runners is a program record.
Berks' final runner that contributed to the team store was
Simon Rickert, who took 19
th overall, recording a time of 31:24.8.
Alexander Gonzalez took part in the meet finishing in a time of 34:50.9.
Matt Shellenberger was the Nittany Lions final finisher, posting a time of 54:27.8.
After the meet, head coach
Ryan Foster was named United East Coach of the Year.
The Nittany Lions had two runners take part in the women's race with
Brianna Strittmatter leading the way. She placed ninth place overall with a time of 26:19.8. Strittmatter earn United East All-Conference First Team honors for her efforts.
Heather Hoffman also took part in the championship, finishing the race in a time of 33:09.9.

The Nittany Lions will take part in the NCAA Mideast Regional Championship hosted by Dickinson College on Saturday, November 15.
