Latham, NY – The United East Conference announced its weekly award winners on Monday, September 28, with Penn State Berks'
Stephanie Morales being named Offensive Player of the Week for women's soccer and
Josh Martin earning Defensive Player of the Week recognition for men's soccer.
Morales, a freshman forward, delivered a remarkable performance by scoring 7 goals and accumulating 14 points, including two hat tricks during the week. She netted 4 goals in the Nittany Lions 7-0 win against Carlow University, including the opening three goals of the match. Morales followed it up with 3 goals against Cedar Crest College, including back-to-back goals to open the second half and the final goal of the contest.
Martin, a senior goalkeeper, contributed to a 2-0 week for his team by allowing only one goal across two matches. He made six saves, including a shutout performance, underscoring his critical role in the team's success. Martin began by making five saves and holding the Celtics to only one goal for Berks' 3-1 win against Carlow. He followed it up with a shutout performance against fellow United East institution Gallaudet University for a 4-0 victory.
Both teams will compete tomorrow, September 29, as the Nittany Lions will host Penn College in United East competition. The women's game will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.
