Men's tennis advances to NAC West Division Championship

Box Score CLARKS SUMMIT, PA (April 22, 2015) - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team downed Penn College of Technology, 5-0, on Wednesday afternoon to advance to the 2014-15 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) West Division Championship at the Birchwood Tennis Club.

The Nittany Lions (6-9) built a comfortable lead by sweeping the doubles matches in the race to five wins. Will Byler and Volan Nnanpalle made quick work in the No. 2 doubles spot with an 8-1 victory. Dylan Deleon and Jerrad Seifrit were 8-2 winners in the third doubles slot. The No. 1 duo of Drew Weinhold and Ryan Fritz outlasted Jordan Rodgers and Chris Morrin with an 8-6 thriller.

Deleon brought the Nittany Lions closer to clinching the semifinal win after taking a 6-1, 6-0 decision at fifth singles. John Zimmerman clinched the win with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 6 singles, which ended the match after the decisive fifth win was earned.

The Nittany Lions will take on regular season champion Penn State Abington on Thursday, April 23 at 10 a.m. The winner of the NAC West Championship will face the NAC East Champion next weekend with a trip to the NCAA Tournament on the line.
