Baseball drops battle with Gallaudet

READING, PA (April 18, 2014) - The Penn State Berks baseball team suffered a 12-10 setback to Gallaudet University in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Friday afternoon at Hintz Athletic Field.

The Nittany Lions (10-12, 6-2 NEAC) rallied from an early deficit to eventually take a 9-7 lead heading into the top of the eighth, but the Bison (20-10, 8-2) reeled off five runs over their last two at-bats.

Kyle Hartman had a career-high four hits - including a bunt single against a shifted infield - while knocking in three RBI and scoring two runs to lead the offensive attack. In addition, he drew an intentional walk and stole a base. Hartman has raised his batting average from .214 to .316 over the course of six game hit streak.

Connor Corson went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI, while Nick Zipay had a bunt single, scored two runs, walked three times, and had two stolen bases. Keeanu Erb walked two times and scored a career-high three runs scored.

The Nittany Lions will host Gallaudet University in a conference doubleheader on Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m.
