Baptist Bible barely edges out Nittany Lions

Box Score CLARKS SUMMIT, PA (April 3, 2012) - The Penn State Berks men's tennis team dropped a hard fought battle, 5-4, on the road to Baptist Bible College in a non-conference contest at the Birchwood Tennis Club on Tuesday afternoon. (Boxscore)

The Nittany Lions, who had won their previous two matches, fell behind 2-1 in the doubles play and the teams split in singles action.

George Chacko started off his perfect day by winning No. 1 doubles with Matt Holdorf by an 8-6 score. Javier Quinones-Melendez and Bradley Kale were edged out 8-6 at second doubles, while Creston Smoker and Amir Alikhani fell 8-4 in the third flight.

Chacko, playing at No. 2 singles for the second time this season, earned 6-3, 6-2 victory over Connor Ellsworth. Kale, who was named the NEAC Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week, won his third consecutive singles match. He won 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 4 singles spot. Quinones-Melendez won his pro-set by a score of 8-6 to round out the Berks winners.

The Nittany Lions will host Cabrini College on Tuesday, April 10 at 4 p.m.
