READING, PA (April 23, 2011) - The Penn State Berks men's team finished its North Atlantic Conference (NAC) regular season with a 6-3 win over SUNY Cobleskill at Hillcrest Racquet Club on Saturday afternoon.
Matt Holdorf, Javier Quinones-Melendez and Bradley Kale each went unbeaten through singles and doubles play to help the Nittany Lions improve to 7-5 overall and 3-1 in the conference. Berks will enter the NAC Western Division Championship as the No. 2 seed on Thursday, April 28 in Clarks Summit.
Holdorf did not drop a single game throughout the afternoon. He and Tim Ko partnered up for an 8-0 shutout over David Dash and Jeremy McMichael at second doubles. Holdorf then cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at fourth singles.
Quinones-Melendez (No. 5 singles) earned a 6-1, 6-4 win over Austin Kelly, while Kale picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win at sixth singles. The freshman pair teamed up for an 8-6 victory in the third doubles flight.
Steven Roughton grabbed the Nittany Lions other victory by a score of 6-1, 6-3 out of the third singles slot.
The Nittany Lions will travel to Albright College on Tuesday, April 26 at 3:30 p.m. for one last tune up before their conference championships on Thursday.
