Nittany Lions halted by Morrisville State



MORRISVILLE, N.Y. (February 8, 2014) - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team fell in the final minutes to Morrisville State College by a score of 65-58 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Saturday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions trailed 28-19 at halftime, but were able to cut the deficit to three points with 2:25 left in the game. The Mustangs prevailed with the win after converting 9 of their 10 attempts at the free throw line.

Tom Smith netted a season-high 29 points to raise his scoring average to 13.7 per game. The senior center shot 13-of-25 from the field and was 3-for-3 at the line. Smith recorded a contest-high 12 rebounds to give him his fifth double-double of the season. He currently has 1,220 career points and is 65 points away from becoming the all-time leading scorer in school history.

Darren Major was next on the team in scoring with 11 points, followed by Christian Burggraf with nine. Dameon Nixon added eight points, seven boards, and three assists.

The Mustangs were led by Jordan Prior, who shot 6-for-6 at the foul line, with 16 points. Tom Wilk chipped in 12 points, followed by Jailaan Kinsey with 10.

The Nittany Lions will host Penn State Abington in a NEAC contest on Tuesday, February 11 at 6 p.m. The men's team will join the women's team in hosting a Pink Game fundraiser in that game.
