Nittany Lions fall, but clinch final playoff spot



UTICA, N.Y. (February 22, 2014) – The Penn State Berks men's basketball dropped a 93-71 decision to SUNYIT on Saturday afternoon's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest.

The Nittany Lions season will continue their season as they earned a trip to the NEAC postseason for the third straight season. Keuka College defeated Wells College, 68-56, to keep the Nittany Lions one game ahead of the Express for the final playoff spot.

Darren Major finished with a team-high 14 points, followed by Joel Ellison with 10. Jake Kovach made three 3-pointers to record a career-high nine points. J.C. Keaton connected on two shots from long distance to finish with eight points. Grant Mankin, who made his first start, recorded three points.

Ryan James shot 10-of-20 from the field for a game-high 27 points. Sallo Fofana and Malcolm Jones each chipped in 13 points, while Maverick Hodge added 13. Kaleel Johnson had eight points and game-high 14 rebounds.

The Nittany Lions (No. 5 seed) will take on SUNY Cobleskill (No. 4 seed) on Friday, February 28 in the NEAC Tournament opener. The entire NEAC Championship will take place at top-seed Lancaster Bible College.
