Men's basketball falls to Lancaster Bible



READING, PA (January 11, 2014) - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team suffered a 77-69 setback to Lancaster Bible College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions trailed 38-31 at halftime and were able to build a three points lead with 12:31 left in regulation. The Chargers (5-5, 4-0 NEAC), who are in first place in the conference, used a 19-6 run to go up by 12 points with 7:09 to plays Berks was able to pull within six with 19 seconds left, but that is as close as they would get.

Tom Smith recorded a double-double after leader all players in points and rebounds. The senior center scored 23 points, for the second straight game, and pulled down 14 rebounds (seven offense, seven defense). Smith also registered three blocked shots and two steals.

Darren Major knocked down four 3-pointers and finished the game with 16 points. He matched a career-high with seven rebounds and also blocked three shots. Dameon Nixon scored 15 points, with 11 coming in the second half. Nixon had five boards and four assists.

The Chargers had four players recorded double-doubles, with C.J. Dunston leading the way (19 points, 12 boards). Dondre Perry had 16 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Albert Suniga's 14 points and 11 boards. Naheer Mirza finished the contest with 10 points and a game-high 10 assists.

The Nittany Lions will travel to Keuka College for a NEAC contest on Friday, January 17 at 6 p.m.
