Women's tennis downs Lancaster Bible, 8-1

Box Score READING, PA (April 10, 2013) - The Penn State Berks women's tennis team swept its singles matches and took two of three in doubles to earn an 8-1 victory over Lancaster Bible College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest on Wednesday at Gring's Mills Tennis Courts. The Nittany Lions (6-3, 3-0 NEAC) have won three straight contests and are winners of five of their last five matches.

The No. 2 team of Sam Warga and Allison Monkman won their doubles tilt by a score of 8-0, while Kristina Hatter and Taylor Keselica also earned a shutout victory in the No. 3 flight.

Hatter, the reigning NEAC Player of the Week, did not drop a single game all day as she won at fifth singles by a 6-0, 6-0 score. Crystal Hitz won at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-1) and Elizabeth Kehm was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at second singles. Warga picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3 and Monkman won at fourth singles, 6-1, 6-0. Gloria Kim finished off the singles sweep with her 6-2, 6-1 triumph out of the No. 6 spot.

The Nittany Lions will host Penn State Harrisburg on Saturday, April 13 at 11 a.m. The women's squad will join men's tennis, baseball, and softball in a Pink Games fundraiser with all proceeds benefiting the Breast Cancer Support Services of Berks County.
