Greyhounds use late rally to down Berks

BETHLEHEM, PA (April 11, 2012) – The Penn State Berks baseball team suffered a 12-5 setback to Moravian College in a non-conference contest on Wednesday afternoon at Gillespie Field.

The Nittany Lions did all of their scoring in the top of the fourth with five runs to gain a two-run lead. But the Greyhounds (20-12), who scored at least one run in seven of their eight at-bats, took a 6-5 lead an inning later. They put the game out of reach with a five spot in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Kevin Heilman finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Rich Schlamowitz and Dillon Landrigan each drove in a run for the Nittany Lions. Leadoff man Aaron Wilkins went 2-for-3 with a walk and two stolen bases.

Brent Rhoads pitched well, but the defense behind him committed four errors through the first four innings. He threw 5.0 innings, surrendering six runs – four earned – and striking out one batter. Dusten Rutt struck out three batters in two innings of work.

The Nittany Lions will host Kutztown University on Thursday, April 12 at 3:30 p.m.
