Boxscore

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 9, 2011) – The Penn State Berks women's basketball team put a scare into nationally ranked Gallaudet University before falling 70-57 in Wednesday night's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) tilt.

The undefeated No. 18 ranked Bison earned their 20th win of the season and 17th in NEAC play, while the Nittany Lions fell to 11-10 overall and 10-8 in the conference.

The Bison jumped out to a 15-0 lead through the first seven minutes of the game and took a 30-21 advantage into the locker room at halftime. The Nittany Lions cut the deficit down to two points with 10:42 remaining in the game after a lay-in by Shakiyla Stone. Gallaudet responded by scoring 10 unanswered points to take control of the contest.

Stone, who is the reigning NEAC Athlete of the Week, led the blue-and-white with 15 points. Taylor Kreider followed with 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Stone and Emily Pufnock (nine points) each knocked down three 3-pointers.

The Bison were powered by the tandem of Easter Faafiti (26 points, 17 boards) and Tandy Lewis (16 points, 11 boards). Gallaudet shot a scorching 54% from the field and won the rebounding battle by a margin of 44-24.

The Nittany Lions will travel to New York this weekend for NEAC contests against Keuka (Saturday) and Wells (Sunday). Both games tip-off at 1 p.m.
