Late surge by Albright dooms Nittany Lions



READING, PA (December 18, 2011) - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team battled hard, but Albright College pulled out a 78-61 win on Sunday afternoon at Beaver Community Center.

The Nittany Lions led 36-35 early in the second half, but Albright took the lead for good with 14:22 left in the game. Berks was able to stay close until Albright caught fire and shot 12-for-13 over the final nine minutes. The Lions combined to shoot 19-of-25 (76%) throughout the entire second half and finished the game an impressive 53.6 percent.

Dontez Reid recorded a contest-high 18 points after shooting 6-for-13 from the floor with three 3-pointers. Tore Turner chipped in 15 points to round out the Berks players in double figures. He finished 6-for-6 at the foul line and also recorded a team-high seven rebounds. Jeff Schmidt added nine points and Connor Hough had eight. Jon Skinner played strong on the defensive end with a career-high four steals and gave Nittany Lions solid minutes off the bench.

Albright was led by center Derek Hall's 15 points and seven rebounds, followed by Cornell Mickens with 12 points. Kyle Jordan notched five blocked shots and pulled down six boards.

The Nittany Lions will return to action on Saturday, January 7 at Wells College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest.
