COBLESKILL, N.Y. (January 29, 2011) - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team suffered a 77-53 setback to SUNY Cobleskill in Saturday afternoon's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) tilt at Iorio Gymnasium.
The Nittany Lions, who fell to 6-11 overall and 6-5 in the NEAC, trail SUNY Cobleskill by half a game in the NEAC standings after the loss.
The Fighting Tigers (7-11, 7-5) never trailed in the contest and took a 39-20 lead into the locker room at half. The Lion offense was unable to get on track throughout the contest, finishing with 31.8% shooting from the floor and went just 2-for-21 on 3-pointers.
Tore Turner led the Nittany Lions with 14 points and three assists. Tom Smith and Nate Weldon each chipped in nine points. Weldon had a game-high 11 boards and two blocks.
SUNY Cobleskill snapped its four game losing streak behind strong shooting. The Fighting Tigers finished the game with 48.3% shooting. Brendan Doherty had 13 points, while Damon Franklin and Donovan Johnson each added 12. Franklin also doled out a game-high five assists.
Penn State Berks will look to bounce back tomorrow at 2 p.m. in an NEAC contest at SUNYIT.
