Men's basketball suffers first conference loss



READING, PA (December 5, 2010) - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team fell, 72-67, to SUNY Cobleskill in a North Eastern Athletic Conference contest on Sunday afternoon at Beaver Community Center. The loss drops the Nittany Lions to 2-1 in the conference and 2-4 overall.

Berks took a 36-24 lead into halftime, but the Fighting Tigers chipped away and grabbed the lead midway through the second half with a barrage of 3-pointers. Cobleskill made three-consecutive 3's to slice a 10 point deficit to one with 14:50 remaining. With 5:25 remaining, the Fighting Tigers took a 59-58 lead and didn't look back from there.

Devin Moore and Wanyae Hartsfield led the Lions with 13 points. Moore had a team-high 10 rebounds to record his second straight double-double. CONNOR HOUGH rounded out the Lions in double figures with an 11 points effort.

The Fighting Tigers received 16 points from Haneef Scott, while Brendan Doherty finished with 14.

Berks created numerous second chance efforts with 19 offensive boards and the Lions outrebounded Cobleskill 44-34.

The men will return to action in an NEAC showdown on Wednesday against Penn State Harrisburg at 8 p.m.
