READING, PA (November 20, 2010) - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team fell, 90-49, in a nonconference contest with Kutztown University on Saturday afternoon at Beaver Community Center.
The loss drops the Nittany Lions to 0-3 for the season, while the Golden Bears improved to 2-1 overall.
Berks trailed from the start, but were able to cut the lead to 26-20 midway through the first half. KU took a 35-22 lead into the intermission after a 9-2 run.
Freshman guard TORE TURNER led the Lions with 12 points, followed by Thomas Smith with nine. Devin Moore grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and MICHAEL PERONE handed out five assists.
The Golden Bears were powered on offense by Julius Gray's 17 points and Eric Brennan's double-double (15 points, 11 rebounds).
Despite being undersized, the Lions were only beat on the boards by a 37-33 margin. The Lions created numerous second chances with 18 offense rebounds.
The men will have off for the next 10 days before hosting Penn State Abington in the North Eastern Athletic Conference opener on November 30 at 8 p.m.
