LOCK HAVEN, PA – The Penn State Berks men's and women's cross country team competed at the Lock Haven Invitational on Saturday, September 26. The women's team took 15th out of 20 teams while the men placed 21st of 22 squads on the day.
In the women's race, five racers had best runs on the year with Madelyn Holbrook, Heather Hoffmann, and Olivia Zynn hitting PR's on the day. Holbrook was the top runner for Berks, running a 25:22.0 time on the day while Brianna Strittmatter followed behind as she earned a 26:23.8 time. Emma Petersheim ended her day by running a 32:56.8 time during the race. Zynn and Abigail Pfander rounded out the Nittany Lion runners as they ran 33:41.4 and 43:37.2 respectively.
In the men's race, four men's runners had times under 28 minutes, with Adrian Maldonado having the 10th fastest 8k race in program history as he ran a 27:10.8. Samuel Branford was the second Berks runner to cross the finish line as he had a 27:24.0 time, followed by Cristian Corona-Olivares with his 27:39.1 finish. Trent Jordan was the fourth runner to hit under 28 minutes, securing a 27:47.2 time. Matteo Antonucci rounded out the top five runners as he finished 30:00.0 in the race. Mark Shiroshita (32:34.8), Alex Gonzalez (32:52.8) and William Johnston-McCormick (34:10.7) rounded out the Berks runners for the Crimson 8k race. Charles Bomberger and Matt Shellenberger completed the White 8k race for the Nittany Lions, running a 42:14.4 and 47:23.5 time respectively.

Up next, Berks will have a few weeks of rest as they get ready to head up to Gettysburg, Pa. for the Aubrey Shenk Invitational on Saturday, October 17.
