Baseball Cannot Keep Pace with Arcadia

AMBLER, Pa. — Penn State Berks fell to Arcadia in a lopsided 25–2 defeat on Tuesday at Skip Wilson Field. Arcadia capitalized on 18 hits, including two home runs, to dominate the game. The Nittany Lions managed three hits and drew eight walks.

Penn State Berks took an early lead in the first inning when Michael DeRichie scored on a bases-loaded walk by Jackson Brancato. The inning closed with a 1–0 advantage for the Blue & White.

Arcadia responded emphatically in the bottom of the second inning, scoring 13 runs on eight hits. This included RBIs from Kevin Wheeler, Solomon Abdullah, and Peter Trendafilov. The inning ended with the Knights leading 13–1. In the third inning, Arcadia continued its offensive surge by adding six more runs. Derek Rivera and Myles McNiff contributed RBI hits, extending the lead to 19–1.

Berks added a run in the fourth inning. Michael Thalassinos scored on Owen Grove's RBI single, reducing the deficit to 19–2.

Arcadia sealed the game in the fifth inning with Chris Quick's grand slam, part of a six-run inning that pushed its lead to 25–2. The game concluded with the Knights securing a 25–2 victory over the Nittany Lions.

Michael DeRichie recorded one hit and scored a run, contributing to Berks' offensive efforts. Michael Thalassinos also crossed the plate once and drew two walks, maintaining pressure on the opposing defense. Owen Grove tallied an RBI with his lone hit, adding to the team's scoring opportunities.

Mike Kelemen started for the Blue & White, pitching 1 1/3 innings and allowing eight earned runs on two hits, while issuing four walks and hitting three batters. Justin Fabbricatore followed, surrendering 11 earned runs on nine hits across one inning, while also walking four and hitting two batters. Dominick Lauria provided 1 2/3 innings of relief, giving up four earned runs on three hits with four walks. Steven Sepko finished the game, pitching two innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits, and striking out three with one walk.

Berks will host Penn State Abington in the first of two critical conference matchups at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 15 in Reading, Pennsylvania.
