MIDDLETOWN, PA — Penn State Berks fell to Penn State Harrisburg with a final score of 95-56 on Wednesday at the Capital Union Building. Berks was led by a strong bench performance contributing 33 points, while Penn State Harrisburg capitalized on turnovers, converting them into 35 points.
Berks began the first half with a strong effort, highlighted by
Luke Collins' early 3-pointer to keep the score competitive at 6–7. The team capitalized on defensive plays, with
Isaiah Cotten and
Josh Mingledolph each securing a steal, helping to limit Penn State Harrisburg's possessions. However, Harrisburg's offense surged, with efficient shooting both inside and outside the paint, building momentum. Despite the early efforts from Berks, Harrisburg's fast breaks and bench contributions widened the margin.
Jaedon Mast added a key 3-pointer for the Blue & White, but Harrisburg's scoring consistency, including a layup by Antwone George at the buzzer, extended their lead. The half closed with Harrisburg ahead, 55–24.
Berks began the second half with
Isaiah Cotten sparking momentum through a block and defensive rebound, followed by a layup assisted by Collins.
Matthew Gingerich contributed with a jumper in the paint, narrowing the gap early in the period. Despite their efforts, Berks faced resistance as the home team maintained their lead.
Zach Prator and
Cooper Truskey added crucial points, with Truskey hitting back-to-back three-pointers midway through the half.
Gabriel Harrison remained active offensively, contributing with both points and assists. However, Harrisburg capitalized on turnovers and fast break opportunities, extending their lead. As the half wound down,
Peter Cavacini and
Berkay Callan scored in the closing minutes, yet Harrisburg's advantage held steady. The game ended with Berks trailing, 95-56, unable to close the gap created earlier.
Isaiah Cotten contributed defensively with three steals and added two points. Collins scored 10 points, converting all four of his free throw attempts and making two 3-pointers. Prator posted eight points and grabbed three rebounds. Harrison recorded nine points and collected six rebounds, showcasing his presence on the boards.
