READING, PA — Penn State Berks secured a decisive 77-58 victory over Rosemont on Saturday afternoon at the Beaver Athletics & Wellness Center. The Nittany Lions capitalized on turnovers, scoring 26 points off Rosemont's 25 giveaways.
Berks opened the first half with assertive play, highlighted by
Luke Collins hitting an early 3-pointer at 18:03, assisted by
Jaedon Mast. The defense was active, forcing turnovers and accumulating eight steals, which helped maintain momentum and extend their lead.
Isaiah Cotten contributed significantly with defensive rebounds and a couple of jumpers, including one at 1:22 to keep Berks ahead. The team capitalized on turnovers from Rosemont, with
Gabriel Harrison adding a layup at 7:17 and
Cooper Truskey connecting on a 3-pointer at 8:34.
Josh Mingledolph added a free throw to further the lead. The Blue & White closed the half maintaining a lead, ending with a score of 24-16 against Rosemont.
The Nittany Lions opened the second half with a quick layup by Cotten assisted by Collins, followed by a fastbreak 3-pointer from Mast. This early sequence set the tone, helping to extend their lead. The home team maintained a strong defensive presence, forcing turnovers and capitalizing on scoring opportunities, highlighted by Collins' fastbreak three-pointer and free throws after a technical foul on Rosemont. Midway through the half,
Zach Prator added momentum with a layup and a subsequent free throw, keeping the scoring run alive. The host team continued to pressure defensively, with multiple steals by Mast and Cotten, leading to fastbreak points. Berks further extended their advantage with a series of baskets from Cotten and Prator, closing the half with a score of 77–58, successfully widening the gap against Rosemont.
Cotten scored 17 points and recorded six rebounds while adding three steals. Mast contributed 13 points, dished six assists, and collected five steals. Prator added 16 points on 7-for-11 shooting and posted one block. Collins tallied 13 points and secured two steals.
