MEDIA, PA — Penn State Berks (2-11, 1-2 United East) fell to Penn State Brandywine (7-7, 2-0 United East) 75-52 on Saturday at Brandywine Commons Gym. Berks struggled with turnovers, committing 20, which contributed to their defeat. This matchup marked the Nittany Lions' first game in 2026, setting the stage for the new year's challenges.
Berks opened the first half with a strong defensive effort, including a block by
Zach Prator at 1:28. However, turnovers became a challenge, with the visiting team committing 11 in the first half. Despite the setbacks, key contributions came from
Marquis Ferreira, who hit a three-pointer at 3:36, and
Josh Mingledolph, who added scoring depth from the bench. Brandywine capitalized on transition opportunities and bench strength, outscoring the Blue & White 20-8 in bench points. The home team was efficient in the paint with 24 points. As the half concluded, Brandywine solidified their lead with a three-pointer by Corwin Holland II at 0:07, closing the first half at 46-23 in favor of the home team.
Berks opened the second half with a determined push, narrowing the gap early with a series of successful plays, including Ferreira's layup at 17:21.
Isaiah Cotten and
Luke Collins contributed with scoring efforts to keep the momentum alive, cutting into Brandywine's lead. Despite exchanging baskets throughout the half, Berks' defensive efforts, including a block by

Prator recorded eight points and collected seven rebounds, making a notable defensive contribution with one block. Mingledolph added nine points while matching Prator's rebounding effort with seven boards and also contributing with an assist and a steal. Ferreira scored nine points, converting 4 of 5 free throws, and Harrison contributed defensively with four rebounds and one block.
