Reading, Pa.- The Penn St. Berks Women's Soccer team dropped its first road contest of the season, falling to York College (PA) by a score of 4-0 on Sunday, August 31.
The Nittany Lions got off to a slow start, conceding a goal in the third minute of the game. Berks' defense shook off the early setback and stifled the Spartans offensive attack, keeping them off the scoreboard in the rest of the opening half. York fired 13 more shots in the half, but
Sophia Gonzalez was once again solid, making eight of her 14 saves in the opening half.
York took full control of the game early in the second half. The Spartans scored three times in a fifteen-minute span to take a commanding 4-0 lead. Berks tried to get some offense going late in the second half, with
Devon Deery firing the team's lone shot on goal, but she could not but Berks on the board.
