Berks Falls to #1 Messiah University

Grantham, PA- The Penn State Berks Women's Soccer team challenged NCAA Division III's top ranked program, Messiah University, falling to the Falcons by a score of 7-0 on Wednesday, September 17. 

Messiah wasted no time getting on the board, scoring twice in the opening seven minutes to take an early lead. The Nittany Lions tried to tighten up thier defense, defending their goal for thirty-two minutes before allowing a third first half goal. The Falcons continued to control the game in the second hafl, adding on four more goals to secure the win at 7–0. 

With the win, Messiah improves to 7–0 on the season, while Penn State Berks falls to 2–5.

Hannah Adair and Hannah Lashley each scored twice for Messiah, while Brittany Laird, Mia Libby, and Nikki Davis also added goals. Tahlia Lloyd helped set up two of the scores with strong passing.

For Berks, goalkeeper Sophia Gonzalez faced heavy pressure all night. She finished with 10 tremendous saves, keeping the score from climbing even higher despite 29 total shots from Messiah.

WHO'S NEXT
The Nittany Lions will remain on the road, traveling to face Elizabethtown College on Saturday, September 20 at 1:00 PM.
