READING, Pa.- THe Penn State Berks Women's Soccer team secured a 2-0 victory over Albright College on Saturday, September 13, with both goals coming in the final 15 minutes. This game was Senior Day, and before the match, the Penn State Berks Athletic Department took a few moments to honor senior players

Ashley Jocham,
Ashley Olivares, and
Faith Wavershak.
The first half saw the Nittany Lions goalkeeper
Sophia Gonzalez, one of the honored seniors, play a pivotal role, making key saves against the Lions' Alfa Oriheula in the 1st minute and Abigail Landis in the 7th minute to keep the game scoreless. Despite three offside calls against Berks,
Zoey Mortimer and
Ashley Jocham attempted shots on goal, with Mortimer's effort going wide in the 22nd minute.
Isabelle Wilkes challenged the Lions' defense late in the half, but her shot in the 33rd minute was saved by Paisley Tornatore, resulting in a 0-0 tie at halftime.
The second half commenced with Berks maintaining a solid defensive stance, highlighted by Gonzalez's crucial save in the 60th minute.
Faith Wavershak, also celebrated on Senior Day, capitalized on a penalty kick in the 79th minute, breaking the scoreless deadlock and putting the home team ahead. Shortly after,
Paige Thomas extended the lead to 2-0 with a well-timed header off a free kick taken by
Devon Deery, securing the victory for Berks
Wavershak scored the game-winning goal for the Nittany Lions, converting her only shot on goal in the match. Thomas contributed to the team's success by adding a goal from her sole shot on target. Deery provided an assist, playing a crucial role in setting up a scoring opportunity. Goalkeeper Gonzalez recorded four saves and maintained a clean sheet over 90 minutes.
