Chambersburg, PA- The Penn St. Berks Baseball Team dropped a road conference match-up with Wilson College, falling to the Phoenix by a score of 7-3 on Wednesday, April 9.
Berks (6-22 Overall, 3-7 UE) struck first, scoring in the top of the third inning. Cade Baumgardner got the offense going, knocking a single into left field. Landon Eyster was then hit by a pitch, putting a pair of runners on base. Travis Schiller then lined a double into left center field, allowing both runners on base to score, putting Berks ahead 2-0. The Phoenix (6-17 Overall, 4-4 UE) answered right back, scoring three runs in each of the next two innings, retaking a 6-2 lead.
The Lions offense stalled, but Berks got a lift from relief pitcher Jacob Crisler who pitched the final 4.0 innings, allowing one run on four total hits. The Blue & White were able to put runners on base in the sixth and seventh innings, but could not close the gap, trailing 7-2 entering the top of the ninth inning.
Berks made one final push in the top of the ninth inning. Jacob Berzonski reached on a dropped strike three and Baumgardner singled through the left side, putting a pair of runners on base. Eyster then drove a single into the outfield, allowing Berzonski to score, putting a pair of runners in scoring position. Berks could not get any closer, falling 7-3.
Baumgardner led the Lions' offense, going 3-4 with a run scored. Schiller recorded a double, finishing with a team-high two RBIs. Isaiah Dull went 1-4 with a double.

The Lions are scheduled to host Penn State Brandywine in a United East doubleheader on Saturday, April 12. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
