Middletown, PA- The Penn St. Berks Baseball Team could not keep pace with #12 Penn St. Harrisburg, being swept in their doubleheader on Saturday, April 5. The Lions fell by a score of 11-1 in opener before dropping game two by a score of 13-2.
Berks (6-21 Overall, 3-6 UE) fell behind in the fourth inning as Harrisburg (21-4-1 Overall, 6-1 UE) put four runs on the board. After Harrisburg tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, Berks answered back in the top of the sixth inning, when Landon Eyster crushed a solo home run over the right field wall. The Lions could not slow down Harrisburg's offensive attack, as they added five more runs, capturing an 11-1 victory.
The Lions got a strong pitching performance from starter Parker Zook who went 3.1 innings allowing two runs on three hits. Ryan Spatz also had a good showing, throwing a shut-out inning in his relief appearance.
Berks tried to get back on track in game two, but they trailed 2-0 entering the top of the third inning. With two outs in the inning, Cade Baumgardner drew a walk. Eyster then lined a double into right field, allowing Baumgardner to race around the bases and score. Harrisburg answered back, scoring four runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 6-1 advantage.
The Lions tried to climb back into the game in the top of the fourth inning. Isaiah Dull hammered a solo home run over the left field fence, cutting the deficit down to four. Harrisburg kept scoring, striking in each of the next three innings, building a 13-2 lead. Berks was able to put runners on base in each of the next three innings, but they could not plate another run.

The Lions will be back in action when they travel to face Wilson College in United East action on Tuesday, April 8. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
