Reading, PA- The Penn St. Berks Baseball Team could not keep pace with Albright College, falling to their cross-town rivals by a score of 19-4 on Wednesday, April 16.
Berks (8-23 Overall, 5-7 UE) fell behind early as Albright College (15-16 Overall, 3-12 MAC) plated nine runs in the first two innings. The Lions looked to respond in the bottom of the third inning. Nick Buchman led off the inning by driving a single up the middle. After
Trent Gerhardt drew a walk,
Cade Baumgardner laid down a sacrifice bunt to move both runners into scoring position.
Landon Eyster lined a single into center field, allowing Buchman to score.
Logan Ewert kept the rally going, hammering a triple into the left center field gap, clearing the bases and making the score 9-3.
Andrew Seibert blasted a single into right field, allowing Ewert to score and bring Berks back within five.
Albright answered back, scoring six more runs in the top of the fifth inning, taking a 16-4 lead. Berks could not get their offense back on track, as Albright remained in control, eventually earning the 19-4 victory.
WHO'S NEXT
The Lions will resume conference play, hosting Rosemont College on Monday, April 21 in a doubleheader. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM.
