Wappingers Falls, NY- The Penn St. Berks Baseball team concluded their New York trip by facing SUNY Plattsburgh on Sunday, March 2. The Lions fell in both contests, dropping the opener 14-1 before falling 8-7 in game two.

The Lions struck first, scoring in the top of the second inning.
Logan Ewert led off the inning by smacking a double down the left field line. Berks loaded the bases, and
Cade Baumgardner lifted a sacrifice fly into center field allowing Ewert to score. The Cardinals fought back, scoring four runs in the bottom of the second inning taking a lead.

Berks held Plattsburgh in check for the next few innings, remaining within striking distance through the first four innings. The Cardinals scored seven runs in the fifth inning to break the game wide open. The Lions could not answer back, falling by a score of 14-1.

The Blue & White looked to reset for game two, once again scoring first.
Andrew Seibert got the offense going, belting a triple to center field.
Isaiah Dull punched a single into left field, driving home the games first run. After Dull moved into scoring position, Ewert lined a single into right field, plating the Lions second run of the game.

Berks tacked on two more runs in the second inning. With a runner on second, Baumgardner cracked a single into left field, bringing home the runner.
Landon Reyes followed by driving a double into left field, scoring Baumgardner making the score 4-0. The Lions added two more runs in the top of the third inning when
Jacob Berzonski singled to right field, plating two runs and giving Berks a 6-0 lead.

SUNY Plattsburgh fought back, using a three-run third inning to start a rally, eventually holding an 8-6 lead entering the seventh and final inning. The Lions attempted to rally back and extend the game.
Nicholas Buchman led off the inning by knocking a double down the left field line.
Brendan Altman followed by launching a double into left center field, plating Buchman to pull Berks back within a run. The Lions would get two runners into scoring position, but could not score again, falling 8-7.

The Lions were led by Dull, who went 2-3 in game two with two runs scored and an RBI. Seibert continued the hot start to his career, going 2-4 with a triple and a run scored. Altman also posted a pair of hits, going 2-4 with a double and two runs scored.

The Lions are scheduled to take on Gettysburg College on Wednesday, March 5. The first pitch is scheduled for 2:30 PM.
