Lions Bested by Highlanders

READING, PA — Penn State Berks fell to Cairn University with a final score of 94-68 at the Beaver Athletics & Wellness Center on Friday night. The Nittany Lions recorded nine blocks in the game, but The Highlanders' strong performance included 33 field goals and 12 3-pointers, securing their victory.

Berks began the first half with a balanced approach, briefly taking the lead early on through effective shooting by Zach Prator and Marquis Ferreira. However, Cairn responded with a series of fast breaks and efficient shooting beyond the arc, gaining momentum as the half progressed. Despite strong defensive efforts, including several blocks, Berks faced challenges with turnovers, which allowed Cairn to capitalize and extend their lead. As the half closed, the Nittany Lions trailed with a score of 57–31.

The Nittany Lions began the second half facing a sizable deficit. The team found a spark midway through the half with Ferreira's successful 3-pointer at 17:32, narrowing the gap slightly. Jalen Henry and Prator contributed on the defensive end with key rebounds, helping to maintain possession during crucial moments. Schroeder Kleine added momentum with a 3-pointer at 14:31, and Quentin Wright contributed with two free throws at 9:01, showing resilience in the offensive execution. Despite efforts to close the gap, the half ended with both teams scoring 37 points each, leaving the final score at 94-68 in favor of The Highlanders.

Ferreira led with 18 points, including four 3-pointers, highlighting his scoring ability. Prator added 12 points and secured six rebounds, while also contributing two blocks defensively. Matthew Gingerich tallied 11 points and blocked two shots, adding defensive strength. Isaiah Cotten recorded five assists and three blocks, showcasing his playmaking and defensive efforts.
