READING, Pa. — Penn State Berks fell to Haverford College by a score of 83-60 on Wednesday, December 10 at the Beaver Athletics & Wellness Center. Despite the loss, the Nittany Lions recorded 10 steals and six blocks in the contest.
Berks began the first half by matching Haverford's early efforts, with
Isaiah Cotten assisting
Zach Prator on a layup at 17:56 to tie the score at 2-2. Midway through the half,
Jaedon Mast contributed with a pair of free throws, narrowing the gap to 7-6 after a brief lead by The Fords. The teams continued to exchange baskets, with
Matthew Gingerich sinking a three-pointer at 14:36 to level the score again at 9-9. As the half progressed, The Fords took control with their fast-break points and outside shooting, opening a significant lead. The Blue & White's efforts to close the gap included a three-pointer from Cotten at 3:18, assisted by
Quentin Wright, narrowing the margin to 30-25. However, Haverford responded swiftly and extended their lead further in the closing minutes, capitalizing on turnovers and fast breaks. The half concluded with The Fords leading 43-29.
Haverford started the second half strongly, widening the gap with early points. Despite Berks' defensive efforts, including blocks by Gingerich, The Fords maintained their momentum.
Marquis Ferreira helped to trim the lead with successful jumpers and a three-pointer, contributing to a strong offensive push for the Blue & White. Berks faced challenges maintaining possession, resulting in turnovers. However, they capitalized on fast breaks, with Wright and
Gabriel Harrison adding crucial points. The half saw both teams exchanging baskets, but Haverford managed to extend their lead, concluding the game 83-60 in their favor.
Ferreira led the team with 16 points, converting 7 of 12 field goal attempts. Wright posted 13 points and collected a team-high 10 rebounds. Gingerich contributed defensively with four blocks and two steals. Mast added seven points and recorded three steals.
