TOWSON, MD — Penn State Berks was defeated by Goucher College by a score of 61-46, at the Decker Sports & Recreation Center in the Renie Amoss Tip Off Classic.
Penn State Berks started the first quarter by establishing control, demonstrating strong defensive rebounding and capitalizing on turnovers.
Hailey Miller led the team with timely layups, contributing to their early momentum.

The second quarter began with Goucher quickly taking control through a series of steals and fast-break points, which contributed to a significant momentum shift. The Blue & White struggled with turnovers, resulting in 14 during the quarter, while Goucher capitalized with efficient shooting, including five made 3-pointers. Abbie Groy and steady free-throw shooting by Miller and Merritt. However, the turnover differential and Goucher's ability to capitalize on those opportunities extended their lead. Goucher seized control in the third quarter, capitalizing on defensive pressure and scoring efficiency. The Nittany Lions struggled offensively, recording zero field goals and committing 11 turnovers. Goucher's Savannah Holmes and Aniya McDaniel combined for impactful plays, extending their lead to double digits. The quarter concluded with Goucher ahead 52–25, as Berks aimed to regroup for the final stretch.
In the fourth quarter, the Blue & White significantly closed the gap with a robust offensive effort. Miller initiated the momentum with an early layup and followed with consecutive free throws, cutting into Goucher's lead. The team capitalized on defensive rebounds and forced turnovers to maintain possession, allowing for scoring opportunities in the paint. Merritt and Hann contributed with key assists and jumpers, further narrowing the deficit.
