Men's Basketball Outpaced by Golden Wolves

READING, Pa. — Penn State Berks could not keep pace with Alvernia, falling by a score of,114-73, at the Beaver Athletics & Wellness Center on Wednesday, November 12.

Penn State Berks initiated the first half with offensive intensity, highlighted by Luke Collins' three-pointer just seconds into play, assisted by Zach Prator. Marquis Ferreira contributed significantly with a pair of free throws and a layup, helping to maintain a competitive edge in the early minutes. Despite a strong start, Berks faced challenges in controlling the pace as Alvernia capitalized on fast breaks, pulling ahead mid-half. Prator's consistent scoring in the paint kept the home team's offense engaged, but turnovers and missed opportunities allowed Alvernia to extend their lead. As the half progressed, Alvernia's shooting accuracy, especially from beyond the arc, widened the gap. The half concluded with Alvernia leading 61-35, setting a challenging stage for the Blue & White in the subsequent half.

Berks began the second half with Quentin Wright's layup at 19:13, assisted by Collins, narrowing the gap slightly. However, Alvernia quickly responded with a series of scoring plays, including a three-pointer and a fast-break layup by Janye Stanley, extending their lead. Despite efforts from Prator, who converted multiple layups, and Cooper Truskey, who hit a couple of three-pointers, Berks struggled to keep pace. Throughout the half, Alvernia capitalized on turnovers and fast breaks to maintain momentum. Gabriel Harrison contributed with a couple of layups and free throws, but the visiting team's consistent scoring runs widened the margin. By the end of the half, the Nittany Lions managed to close with a free throw from Henry Michel III, but Alvernia finished with a 53-38 advantage in the half, winning 114-73.

Prator led with 21 points, converting 10 of 15 shots and collecting five rebounds. Truskey added nine points, making three 3-pointers. Harrison scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds before fouling out. Matthew Gingerich contributed defensively with eight rebounds and two assists.
