Berks Falls in Road Tilt with Wildcats

Williamsport, Pa.- Penn State Berks men's soccer team could not take advantage of an early lead, falling to Penn College by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday, October 7.

The Nittany Lions got off to an outstanding start, drawing a foul in the box in third minute, earning a penalty kick. Callan Stuck took the PK, smashing a shot into the back of the net for his eighth goal of the season. Penn College responded with a flurry of shots, but Josh Martin made several key plays to keep Berks ahead. The Wildcats leveled the score in the 39th minute, with Joshua Hudak finding the back of the net. The teams remained deadlock at one heading into the break.

Berks tried to get back on track early in the second half with Emir Hamzic missing a shot on a counterattack in the 57th minute. Penn College took their first lead of the day, with Garrett Gill scoring in the 67th minute. The Nittany Lions tried to find an answer in the 72nd minute when Keegan Redcay put a shot on frame, but he could not score. Penn College held onto their advantage, capturing the 2-1 victory.

Stuck scored his eighth goal of the season, converting a PK in the third minute. Hamzic fired a team-high two shots. In goal Josh Martin made eight saves during his time in goal.

WHO'S NEXT
Berks will remain on the road, traveling to face Penn State Abington on Saturday, October 11. The opening kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
