ABINGTON, PA - Penn State Berks fell to Penn State Abington by a score of 5-1 on Saturday, October 11 at Memorial Field.
The first half began with Berks establishing pressure early.
Josh Martin made key saves to maintain defensive stability, notably stopping shots by Frankie Rafferty and Harry Angelis. Offensively, Berks took the lead in the 41st minute when
Terridine Grant scored, assisted by
Emir Hamzic, showcasing effective forward play. However, Abington quickly responded, leveling the score with a goal by Mohamed Konneh, assisted by Temur Temirov, just minutes later. The teams were deadlock at one at the half.
The second half began with Berks' goalkeeper Martin making a crucial save against a shot from Israel Gonzalez, maintaining a narrow deficit. However, Abington increased their lead with an early goal, making it 2-1. Berks' efforts to find an equalizer were hindered as Abington scored two more goals in the 57th and 70th minutes, extending the home team's lead to 4-1.
Nicolas Harrison and Grant both attempted shots, but were unable to convert. As the half wound down, Berks faced further challenges with a late goal from Konneh, assisted by Frank Monaco, setting the final score at 5-1 in favor of Abington. Berks could not close the gap, falling 5-1.
Martin, in goal, recorded eight saves across the match, distributing his efforts evenly with four saves in each half. Grant added one goal to his tally with a total of three shots, one of which was on target. Hamzic contributed to the attack with one assist and also registered a shot on goal.
