Berks Earns Victory on Homecoming

READING, PA- Penn State Berks celebrated Homecoming, earning a critical 1-0 victory over Wilson College on Saturday, October 4.

The Nittany Lions controlled possession early in the first half, putting pressure on the Phoenix's defense. Despite being caught offside multiple times, they managed to create several scoring opportunities. Callan Stuck and Nicholas McMasters each tested Wilson's goalkeeper, Logan Neves, who made key saves to keep the game level. Midway through the half, Wilson began creating scoring chances, but Josh Martin standing firm in goal, denying Wilson's attempts to break through. Notable saves from Martin included shots from Omar Cortez and Jordan DeVincent. The half concluded with neither team finding the back of the net, maintaining a scoreless draw at halftime.

The Nittany Lions continued pushing in the second half and they finally broke through in the 78th minute. Grant brought the ball down the sideline, finding an open Stuck on the edge of the box. After taking a touch, Stuck rocketed a shot into the back of the net, giving Berks their first lead of the day. The Nittany Lions fended off several offensive flurries by Wilson, securing the 1-0 victory.
