Lions Outpaced by Chargers

READING, PA - Penn State Berks fell to Lancaster Bible College in a 4-1 defeat on Saturday October, 18 at Berks Turf Field.

The first half commenced with Berks' goalkeeper Josh Martin taking his position, but Lancaster Bible gained an early advantage with a goal by Andrew Cox in the third minute. The Nittany Lions attempted to respond with a shot from Gavin Dai at the 5:24 mark, but it went wide. As the half progressed, Lancaster Bible doubled their lead with another goal from Cox in the 18th minute. The Nittany Lions managed to cut the deficit when Callan Stuck converted a penalty kick at the 20:18 mark, putting them on the scoreboard. Despite a subsequent shot from Stuck being saved, the Nittany Lions ended the half trailing but keeping the margin narrow. 

The second half began with Lancaster Bible extending their lead through a penalty kick converted by Andrew Cox in the 48th minute. Despite the early setback, Martin made crucial saves for the Nittany Lions, denying multiple attempts from Lancaster Bible, including shots from Zach Coryell and Matthew Eufemia. As the half progressed, Berks attempted to shift momentum with shots on goal by Nicholas McMasters and Terridine Grant, though both were saved by Lancaster Bible's goalkeeper, Chris Jackson. Lancaster Bible added to their lead when Eufemia scored in the 66th minute, further challenging the home side. The Nittany Lions continued to press, earning corner kicks and challenging the visitors' defense, but could not capitalize on these opportunities. The period closed with Lancaster Bible maintaining their advantage, resulting in a final score of 4-1 in favor of the visitors.

Martin recorded 10 saves, facing 25 shots over 90 minutes. Stuck found the back of the net, converting one of his two shots on goal. McMasters contributed with two shots on target, though he did not score. Grant attempted a shot, adding to the offensive efforts.

The next challenge for the Nittany Lions will take them on the road to face Keystone College on Tuesday, Oct. 21. The match is set to begin at 7:00 PM in La Plume, PA.
