Reading, PA- The Penn St. Berks Men's Basketball Team hit a season-high 14 3-pointers enroute to an 80-71 victory over Rosemont College on Saturday, January 18.
The Lions (5-10 Overall, 4-4 UE) got off to a fast start, hitting four 3-pointers in the opening three minutes, including three from
Andre Ballard, building a 12-3 advantage. The Ravens (3-15 Overall, 1-8 UE) fought back, going on a 5-0 run to pull back within four points.
Kai Davis converted a pair of free throws and a layup to push the lead back to eight. Later in the quarter,
Marquis Ferreira drilled a 3-pointer on a fast break, giving Berks a 23-14 lead.
Jaedon Mast pushed the lead to double digits, finishing a layup on the break. Ferreira swished back-to-back 3-pointers extending the Lions lead to 15 points. Rosemont used a 10-2 to close back within seven points with just under a minute remaining in the half. Davis closed the first half by hitting a 3-pointer on the wing, giving Berks a 42-32 lead at the break.
Josh Mingledolph had the hot hand to start the second half, converting a pair of layups to maintain the lead. Ferreira added another 3-pointer, pushing the lead to 11 points. Later in the half, Berks used a 7-2 run to push the lead to 14 points. Rosemont would not go away, going on a 10-0 run, to close with four points with 6:49 remaining in the half. Out of a timeout, Ballard swished a 3-pointer that appeared to swing momentum back toward Berks. Ballard then stormed into paint for a layup and knocked down a jump shot to push the lead back to 11 points. Mingledolph then hit a 3-pointer from the corner, making the score 73-59. The Lions remained in control down the stretch, leading by as many as 17 points on their way to an 80-71 victory.
Ballard led the Lions in scoring, finishing the game with 23 points, hitting five times from beyond the arc. Ferreira also hit five 3-pointers, racking up 17 points. Mingledolph finished the game with 14 points, five rebounds and four assists. Davis also reached double figures, scoring 10 points. Berks connected on a season-high 14 3-pointers, the fifth most in a single game in program history. The Blue & White also held a 25-11 edge in fast break points.

The Lions return to action when they host Bryn Athyn College in a key United East match-up on Wednesday, Jan. 22. The tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
