DALLAS, Pa. – The Misericordia women's soccer team received votes in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Top 25 poll that was released a few weeks ago, and it showed why it may be one of the more formidable teams in the nation after its 5-0 victory over the Penn State Berks women's team on Wednesday night.
The Cougars outshot the Nittany Lions, 34-1, on the night and scored four of their five goals in the first half. Berks goalie Sophia Gonzalez made 14 saves on the night, putting her two shy of breaking into the top-10 for most saves in a game in program history.
Devon Deery recorded Berks' lone shot of the night.
The Nittany Lions return to action at Albright on Saturday at 7 p.m.
