READING, Pa. – The Penn State Berks women's soccer team held its own with Rowan on Friday night, but a three-goal stretch for the Profs in a span of six minutes in the first half sunk the Nittany Lions.
Rowan used that run to defeat Berks, 3-0. Sophia Gonzalez, ranked 21st in the nation in saves entering Friday's action, added 10 more to her tally in the game.
Rowan scored its goals in the 18th, 21st and 24th minutes of play.
Faith Wavershak had two shots to lead the Berks attack. Ashley Jocham added a shot on goal.
Despite what appeared to be a lopsided stat line, Berks brought some periods of attack to the Rowan defense. Isabelle Wilkes played tough on the front end and brought pressure, and Mackenzie Bennett brought energy off the bench.
Berks continues its homestand with another tough opponent in Messiah on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
