COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Penn State Berks women's soccer team lost at Ursinus, 5-0, on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action.
Ursinus led, 1-0, at halftime after a goal in the 38th minute by Adriana Careless. In the first half, the Bears outshot the Nittany Lions, 8-2, but Berks goalkeeper Sophia Gonzalez made two saves in the opening period.
She made three more saves in the second half, but Ursinus opened up its lead with two goals just 91 seconds apart. Paige Flaugh scored in the 54th minute to make it 2-0, and Kaleigh Evans quickly followed in the 56th minute to give the Bears a 3-0 advantage.
Ursinus scored twice more later in the half to round out the scoring. For Berks, Isabelle Wilkes and Autumn Levengood each had two shots to lead the offense. They each registered a shot on goal, joining Devon Deery with one to account for the team's three shots on goal.
The Nittany Lions return to action on Wednesday at Misericordia at 7 p.m.
