READING, PA- The Penn St. Berks Baseball team could not hold off a late rally by Albright College, falling by a score of 10-8 on Wednesday, Apr. 10.
The Lions jumped out to an early lead, plating a pair of runs in the third inning. Riley Weaver and Zach Smith each drew walks putting a pair of runners on base. David Rudisill launched a triple into left field, allowing both runners to score. Berks added another run in the top of the fourth inning when Weaver hit a hard ground ball on the right side that allowed Isaiah Dull to score.
Berks kept scoring, adding more runs in the top of the fifth inning. Bryce Kelly led off the inning by driving a single up the middle. Kolbie Reeser was then hit by a pitch to put a pair of runners on base. Smith knocked a double to third base, allowing one run to score. Rudisill used a ground ball to the right side to bring home Reeser and give Berks a 5-0 lead. Albright answered back, scoring six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to retake the lead.
Trailing for the first time, Berks looked to answer back in the top of the seventh inning. Smith continued his big game, launching a solo home run to level the score at six. Later in the inning, Dull punched a single up the middle scoring Rudisill to put the Lions back in front. The lead was short lived as Albright scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to go back ahead.
Berks tied the game in the top of the eighth inning. Logan Ewert led off the inning by drawing a walk. After Ewert advanced to second, Jonathan Myers doubled to center field driving in Ewert to tie the game at eight. Albright scored twice in the bottom of the inning to retake the lead and earn the 10-8 victory.

The Lions will travel to face SUNY Cortland in a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 13. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
