Baseball topped by New England College

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Penn State Berks baseball team suffered a 10-0 shutout defeat to New England College at The Ripken Experience on Wednesday afternoon. The game was originally scheduled to be a doubleheader, but due to weather conditions in the morning, the first game was scrapped.

The Pilgrims jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the bottom of the first. They combined for five runs in the third through fifth innings and put the game well out of reach with three more in the seventh.

David Rudisill stayed hot at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with a double, while Colin Templin was 2-for-3 with a double and a stolen base. Kolbie Reeser and Colin Amerine each recorded a hit.

Zach Smith allowed six hits and six runs (three earned) in 3.2 innings of work. Ashvin Premkumar gave up one run and struck out three in 2.1 innings of relief. Isaiah Dull surrendered three runs and struck out two in 2.0 innings.

The Nittany Lions return to action with a game against Neumann University on Thursday, March 7 at 12:30 p.m.
