MIDDLETOWN, PA- The Penn St. Berks Baseball team was swept by Penn St. Harrisburg in their three-game series on Friday, Mar. 29 and Saturday, Mar. 30. On Friday, the Lions dropped game one by a score of 12-0 and in game two 12-1. Berks dropped game three on Saturday by a score of 17-1.
Berks struggled to get the bats going in the opening game of the series, being held to only three hits during the seven-inning game. The Lions threatened to score in the sixth inning. Kolbie Reeser led off the inning with a single through the left side and Colin Templin walked to put a pair of runners on base, but Berks could not drive in either runner. Harrisburg racked up 12 total runs including six in the fifth inning to secure a 12-0 victory.
The Lions continued to struggle offensively, being held to two hits throughout the first five innings. Meanwhile, Penn St. Harrisburg racked up 12 runs in the first five innings to take a commanding lead. Berks finally got the bats going in the sixth inning. Zach Smith started the rally, hitting a double into left center field. Griffin Kay singled to put runners on the corners. Nick Bergeman then plated Berks' first run of the day lacing a single into right field. The Lions could not mount any further rally, falling by a score of 12-1.
Berks returned to action on Saturday, but once again fell behind early on, trailing 5-0 heading into the fifth inning. Jase Graybill led off the seventh inning by launching a home run over the left field fence, cutting the deficit down to four. Harrisburg answered right back, scoring two runs in the bottom of the inning and 10 runs in the sixth inning to pull away. Harrisburg held on for the 17-1 victory.

The Lions will host Eastern University on Wednesday, Apr. 3. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
