Nittany Lions take down Bison on Senior Day

READING, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team led from wire-to-wire as they topped Gallaudet University, 86-65, in an United East contest on Saturday afternoon. Prior to the game, Andre Ballard and Darik Tannis-Harriet were honored with Senior Day recognition.

The Nittany Lions now sit at 4-18 on the season and 3-9 in the United East, while the Bison drop to 3-21 overall and 2-9 in the conference. With the win, Berks moves into fifth place in the United East and clinched a spot in the postseason tournament, while Gallaudet drops to sixth in the standings. The Nittany Lions wrapped up the regular season and will wait to see how the remaining teams finish in the conference for what the postseason picture will look like for them.

Tannis-Harriet opened the game with a 3-pointer and the Nittany Lions eventually held a 10-9 lead with 13:16 left in the period. Berks closed out the first half on a 38-15 run to gain control of the contest. In the second half, Berks built a 34-point lead and were able to coast to the finish line.

Matthew Gingerich turned in a strong all-around effort, knocking down four 3-pointers en route to a game-high 18 points. He also had a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with five assists, three steals, and two blocked shots. Josh Mingledolph followed with 16 points, seven boards, and five assists, while Jadeon Mast had 14 points, six rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Luke Collins matched Gingerich with four 3's made, as he recorded 12 points, four boards, and three assists. Ballard chipped in 11 points and seven boards, Marquis Ferreira had nine points, three assists, and three steals. Tannis-Harriet had six points, four rebounds, and two steals.

Blessed Mbogo had 17 points and five rebounds for the Bison, while Brandon Chung chipped in 14 points and 11 boards.
