MBB falls to Penn College in United East First Round

WILLIAMSPORT, PA - The Penn State Berks men's basketball team had its 2023-24 season draw to a close with an 100-71 setback to Penn College in the first round of the United East Postseason on Saturday afternoon.

Darik Tannis-Harriet knocked down a 3-pointer to give Berks a 19-18 lead with 10:17 remaining in the first half. The Wildcats closed out the half on a 30-13 run to take a 48-32 lead into the halftime intermission. Out of the break, Berks got its deficit down to single-digits at 52-43 with 17:17 to play. After that moment, Penn College used a 27-6 run to take control of the contest.

Marquis Ferreira led the Nittany Lions with 18 points, to go along with three rebounds and two assists. Andre Ballard and Matthew Gingerich both chipped in 12 points, while Jaedon Mast finished with 11. Josh Mingledolph added eight points and a team-best seven rebounds, while Tannis-Harriet recorded five points and six boards.

Livington Cross led the Wildcats with 31 points and 15 rebounds, while Gavin Barrett had 22 points, 10 boards, and 10 assists.

The Nittany Lion finished the year with a record of 4-18 overall. They finished with a record of 3-9 in the United East to earn their first trip back to the conference playoffs since the 2015-16 season. Berks will bid farewell Ballard and Tannis-Harriet, the two seniors on the squad. With the bulk of the team able to return, the Nittany Lions will look to build on this season with a return trip to the playoffs next year.
