Reading, Pa. - The Penn St. Berks Men's Basketball Team kicked off the 2024-25 season by dropping a match up with cross-town rival Albright College by a score of 86-63 on Friday, Nov. 8.
The Lions (0-1 Overall) got off to a strong start with 3-pointers by
Jaedon Mast and
Andre Ballard making the score 8-8. Albright (1-0 Overall) took the lead, going on an 11-2 to take a nine-point lead.
Brody Bolyn halted the run, finishing a layup off a great feed from
Luke Collins. Collins then drilled a 3-pointer, cutting the deficit down to four.
Kyle Jones hit another 3-pointer, tying the score at 20. Albright regrouped, going on a 23-3 run to race out to a big lead. The Lions trailed 45-27 at the half.
Berks tried to climb back into the game in the second half, with
Josh Mingledolph connecting on a couple of shots. Albright continued to score at a high rate, building their lead to as large as 34 points. The Lions turned to their bench in the final minutes of the game and
Schroeder Kleine made the most of it, scoring five points. Berks fell by a score of 86-63.
The Lions offense was led by Jones who finished the game with 13 points, going 4-5 from the field. Mingledolph finished just short of a double-double, posting 11 points and nine rebounds.
WHO'S NEXT
The Lions will be back in action when they travel to face Alvernia University on Monday, Nov. 11. The opening tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
