Langhorne, PA- The Penn St. Berks Men's Basketball Team fell in a road nonconference match-up with Cairn University, dropping the contest by a score of 105-73 on Saturday, Nov. 23.
The Lions (0-6 Overall) started the game with a bang with
Andre Ballard hitting a 3-pointer on the team's first possession.
Isaiah Cotten converted a contested layup and Ballard hit another 3-pointer as Berks tried to keep pace with the high-powered Cairn offense. The Highlanders (2-2 Overall) rattled off six straight points before Ballard hit his 3-pointer of the opening seven minutes of the game. Later in the half,
Kai Davis connected from beyond the arc to keep the Lions within six points. Cairn seized momentum going on a 12-0 run to take a 39-21 lead. Berks tried to keep pace with
Kyle Jones hitting a 3-pointer late in the half, but the Lions trailed 56-32 at the break.
Berks traded points with Cairn throughout the opening five minutes of the first half, with a layup by
Marquis Ferreira cutting the deficit down to 22 points. The Lions could not slow down Cairn's blistering offensive attack, allowing the Highlanders to build a 37-point lead, eventually falling 105-73.
Ballard led the Lions in scoring, finishing the game with 16 points.
Kai Davis went 9-10 at the free throw line, finishing the game with 14 points.
Schroeder Kleine came off the bench, racking up nine points in nine minutes of action by going 3-4 from beyond the arc.
WHO'S NEXT
The Lions will begin conference play when they travel to face Bryn Athyn College on Tuesday, Nov. 26. The tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
