Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - The Penn St. Berks Women's Basketball Team concluded play in the Gwynedd Mercy Tip-Off Tournament dropping a neutral site match-up to Muhlenberg College by a score of 84-29 on Saturday, Nov. 9.
The Lions (0-1 Overall) got off to a slow start, allowing the Mules (1-1) to race out to an 11-1 lead.
Jalyn Hann and
Hailey Miller started to get the offense going, converting layups in the paint.
Mahala Ruffner added a jumper to bring the Lions back within six. Muhlenberg scored the final six points of the quarter, leading 19-7 heading into the second quarter.
Ashlyn Clark converted a series of free throws and Ruffner converted a layup early in the quarter, but the Lions could not keep pace with the Mules, trailing 35-14 at the half.
Muhlenberg hit a flurry of 3-pointers to start the second half, extending their advantage. Ruffner and Clark converted layups in the paint, halting the run momentarily. The Mules continued to pull away in the fourth quarter, earning the 84-29 victory.
