Women's Soccer Rolls Past Saint Elizabeth, 8-0

READING, Pa. – The Penn State Berks Women's Soccer team earned a dominant 8-0 win over Saint Elizabeth in United East Conference action on Tuesday evening at the Hintz Athletic Fields.
 
 
With the win, the Nittany Lions improved to 4-7-1 overall and 3-0 in United East Conference. Meanwhile, the Eagles fell to 5-5-1 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
 
 
Junior Ashley Jocham got Berks immediately on the board 43 seconds in with a long shot from the left side that made it 1-0. The Nittany Lions maintained the same advantage for another 30 minutes but continued to control play in their offensive end of the field. First-year Amber Scritchfield made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute after knocking in a cross from the left side by senior Mary King. King extended the Nittany Lions lead to 3-0 just four minutes later with a penalty kick goal. Junior Faith Wavershak capped the big first half with back-to-back goals that gave Berks a 5-0 lead.
 
 
First-year Isabelle Wilkes netted the Nittany Lions initial second half goal in the 62nd minute that made it 6-0. First-year Autumn Levengood got in on the scoring in the 72nd minute before Wilkes finished off the day with her second goal of the game in the 80th minute.
 
 
Berks held a whopping 33-0 shot advantage with 26 of them going on goal. The Nittany Lions also had a 13-4 advantage in corner kicks. Junior Sophia Gonzalez earned the shutout win for the Nittany Lions while Emily Fearon made 14 saves in 81:48 for the Eagles.


Wavershak led Berks with five points behind two goals and one assist while Wilkes added a pair of goals. Sophomore Zoe Macknicki tallied a pair of assists in the win as well. 
 
 
The Nittany Lions return to action on Saturday, October 12th as they will host Penn State Abington in United East Conference action at 1:00 p.m.
